Effect of black cumin oil (Nigella sativa) on the growth performance, body composition and fatty acid profile of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Authors

Abstract:

In this study, rainbow trout were fed for a total of 144 days with different feed mixes containing 0.00%, 0.10%, 0.40%, 0.70%, 1.00% and 1.30% black cumin oil. The effect of black cumin oil on the growth performance, feed content and fatty acid composition of rainbow trout was researched. The starting weight of fish in the experimental group was approximately 60 gr., which increased respectively to 215.21±4.12gr, 217.32±3.14gr, 235.12±2.9gr, 240.21±6.5gr, 260.14±4.7gr, and 258.89±1.6gr, while the difference in growth between the groups was observed to be statistically significant (p

Effect of fish oil replacement by poultry waste oil in feeds on growth parameters, chemical composition and fatty acid profile of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary fish oil replacement by poultry fat on growth performance and fillet quality, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Three diets were used in this experiment, containing different percentages of poultry fat (0% (D1), 50% (D2) and 100% (D3) replacement with fish oil. The fish were reared as three treatments; the fish fed D1 diet; the fish fed D2 diet; ...

Effect of dietary canola oil level on the growth performance and fatty acid composition of fingerlings of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

This study evaluated the suitability of canola oil as a source of supplemental dietary lipid for rainbow trout. Triplicate groups of the 30 fingerlings held under identical culture conditions were fed twice daily by iso-nitrogenous, iso-calorific and iso-lipidic diets for eight weeks. Experimental diets consisted of 30.3% protein, 18.7 kJg-1 energy and 16.7% lipid from fish oil (FO), canola oil...

Effect of Dietary Vegetable Oils on the Growth Performance and Fatty Acid Composition of Fingerlings of Rainbow Trout,Oncorhynchus mykiss

This study evaluated the suitability of canola and flaxseed oils as source of supplemental dietary lipid for fingerlings of rainbow trout. Triplicate groups of the 30 fingerlings were fed twice daily by iso-nitrogenous, and iso-calorific diets for 8 weeks. Experimental diets consisted of 30.2% protein, 18.6 kJ/g energy and 16.6% lipid from fish oil, canola oil, flaxseed oil, 1:1 blends of fish ...

Effect of dietary sesame oil on growth and carcass composition of rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss) ‎juvenile

This study investigated the effects of replacement of fish oil with dietary sesame oil (SO) on growth performance and fillet composition of rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss) juvenile with initial mean body weight 52.54 ± 2.03 . Triplicate groups of 30 fish each held under identical culture conditions were fed twice daily by iso-nitrogenous, iso-calorific and iso-lipidic diets for 8 weeks. E...

Effect of Gamma Irradiation on Fatty Acid Composition of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Fillets

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of low-dose gamma irradiation (0, 1, 3 and 5 kGy) on fatty acid composition of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fillet. Among all of the fatty acids, oleic acid (C18:1) (with mean 33.50±3.02 g/100 g fatty acids) and myristoleic acid (C14:1) (with mean 0.41±0.26 g/100 g fatty acids) were the most predominant and the lowest fatty acids in ...
